| VERY OLD NEWS! | |
| 6th March 2007 | This
should be good! JL have so far been booked to play at three rather
interesting events this summer. First there is Moxters of Rock at The Vic Bikers Pub in Coalville, Leicestershire on Saturday 23rd June. Sixteen bands throughout the day, mainly quality tribs, for a mere £25. Next up we have the Horsham Classic Rock Festival on Saturday 7th July at Horsham in West Sussex. Five bands including JL, headlined by Limehouse Lizzy, again £25. From what I've heard this is going to be a BIG gig; they're spending a small fortune on the staging, lights and PA. Finally (for now) we have the Rockinbeerfest near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire over the weekend 17th - 19th August. JL will be playing on Saturday 18th. Currently waiting for the organisers to announce the final line-up / running order / ticket prices. However if past years are anything to go by this is a great event, mixing quality bands old and new. |
| 18th February 2007 | A
couple of things. First, there seem to be a lot of new visitors to the
site so Hello to you! Once you've had a poke around on here you might
want to go to our MySpace page at myspace.com/juicylucyreturns.
Send us a Friend request, leave a comment, send us a message....
please, we want to hear from YOU. Second thing. The band has submitted an entry to the O2 Undiscovered competition. To help us get the attention of the judging panel it would be great if you (and your relatives, friends, casual acquaintances, strangers you stop on the street) would vote for us. Just go to the Rate The Music page at www.o2undiscovered.co.uk, search for Juicy Lucy and, assuming you like us, click on the Rate It button. Simple as that! |
| 26th January 2007 | Yes,
I know it's been quite for a while. Happy New Year! Actually, not so happy. Just to let you know that the gig at The George Venue in Andover on Friday 2nd February has been cancelled by the venue. We're not too chuffed by this, but so it goes! |
| 3rd November 2006 | Some good photos of the gig with Budgie and Stray last week can be found at the photographer's web site. |
| 13th October 2006 | "Do
That And You'll Lose It" is now available to buy on Apple iTunes in the
UK and USA. Go to the BUY page for direct links into iTunes. If you access iTunes from any other territory and find the album listed, please email us a link to the relevant page and we will add it to the BUY page here. |
| 9th October 2006 | The
venue curse strikes again! The gig at The Night Owl in Cheltenham has
had to be postponed as a result of a small fire at the venue last week.
Fortunately (for them) the damage is minimal, but as they could not be
certain of being fully operational by Tuesday evening the gig has been
pulled, to be re-scheduled for a later date. |
| 4th October 2006 | Another
addition to the gig list. The band will be playing a benefit gig in
support of Amnesty International in Sutton Coldfield on Saturday 11th
November. On the bill will be People's Republic of Mercia and World
Service. Follow the link from the LIVE page for a map. |
| 26th September 2006 | What
is is with venues this month? Yet another change, again in the South
West. The Three Fat Fish in Exeter is no more. It has changed hands,
been renamed The Hub (nothing to do with The Hub in Plymouth) and
because the new owners "could not get in touch" they cancelled the gig
planned for the 19th October! Never mind, because we have relocated to Paignton. Tracey and Debra of T&D Presents, promoters of Rock@ events in Paignton, have pulled things together at VERY short notice and the band will now be playing at The Lighthouse on Esplanade Road in Paignton. There will be a link to the venue details on the LIVE page ASAP. |
| 22nd September 2006 | The
BIG news!!! We've made it into Classic Rock magazine. Page 20 of the
October issue see's the band get half a page featuring an interview
with Ray and Mr. Fish. Interestingly enough that's the same amount of
space that they have given to Motorhead and Stewart Copeland. We're in
illustrious company. The same issue also has a review of the new CD.
Happy that it gets a 7/10 Good rating. On the gigging front some of you need to be aware that the gig at Jax in Ilfracombe has been moved to the Exter Inn, Barnstaple. Check the link in the LIVE page for the address. |
| 19th September 2006 | If
you check out the LIVE page you will see a gig at Maidstone Leisure
Centre on 27th October. Just to clarify, this is a three band line-up
with JL, Stray and headlined by Budgie. This will probably start quite
early to give all three bands reasonable playing time and to allow for
the changeover. We will post more details when we have them. |
| 11th September 2006 | Both
of the mail order companies are now up and running with supplies of the
new CD. There are links on the BUY page which take you directly to the
relevant section of the suppliers' sites. Don't forget to check the LIVE page regularly to see if we have added a gig near you. And the bad new is... due to circumstances beyond our control, the gig at the Melton Theatre on Thursday 14th September has been cancelled. Any advanced tickets can be refunded at the Theatre box office. We are also postponing the gigs in Scotland at the end of October as a result of various venues not being available. We will be looking to re-book these dates, hopefully for December. |
| 7th September 2006 | The release date of the CD is
confirmed as Tuesday September 12th. Initially it will be available for
mail order in the UK and other EU coutries, priced at £9.99
plus postage. Mail order supplies for the rest of the world should be
available by Tuesday 19th September at the latest. Check the new BUY
page for updates. The BUY page will also include links to the various commercial download sites worldwide, as they come on-line during the month. Of course, if you are in England or Scotland you could always come to a gig and purchase a copy there. You will probably be able to get the guys to sign it, and we will make more money that way! |
| 8th August 2006 | We have just
updated the
MUSIC page with samples from all twelve tracks on the new CD.
Additionally, if you go to our
MySpace page there are four full length
tracks for you enjoy. We will be changing the MySpace tracks in a
couple of weeks time, with the intention that you will have had a
chance to listen to ALL of the tracks from the CD before it is released. As an extra "treat" we have uploaded the cover art from the CD package for you to use as wallpaper on your PC. This is also available from the MUSIC page. |
| 19th July 2006 | The gig on 2nd
September at
Campbell's Landing in Clevedon has been cancelled as the venue
is
up for sale and the future owners have decided not to continue with
live music. If you live in the area keep an eye on the LIVE page as we
are expecting to announce a tour date in Bristol in the next week or so. |
| 15th July 2006 | Album, tour,
and some public recognition. Lets start with the new CD. "Do That And You'll Lose It" wil be available worldwide from 12th September by mail order through this site and by download from the likes of iTunes, the track listing will be: Silver Bird / Making a Name / 40 Days / Species / Where Were You? / Madeline & Suzy / Only When You Know / Freedom / Facts of Life / One Time, One Place / God Only Knows / Floss As we get closer to the release we will be updating the MUSIC page with samples of the tunes, maybe a freebie or two, and links to the download sites as they come on-line. The tour kicks off on 14th September and will run through to the end of October. Confirmed dates are now listed on the LIVE page. Keep checking for updates as there are more dates to come. And the public recognition? The August issue of Classic Rock magazine has a round up of the "100 Top Blues Rock Tunes" and Who Do You Love? makes it in at number 89! When you think about it this is not 89 out of 100, but more like 89 out of tens of thousands. So well done the original members and a special "well done" to Ray, whose birthday it is today. |
| June 30th 2006 | The new CD gets
closer by the day!
The release date is set as 12th September and a UK tour to
promote
it is being booked, dates to be announced in the next week or so. We
are also booking radio and magazine advertising to promote the
tour and CD so look / listen out! |
| May 22nd 2006 | We have finally
got
round to doing things with our page on MySpace. If you are on
MySpace please go to www.myspace.com/juicylucyreturns
to add glowing comments about the band or to request that we add you to
our Friends list. Also, we have just updated the MUSIC page here. You can now get your hands on the live version of "Pretty Women" from the raiding the fruit bowl CD-EP, as well as studio demo versions of "Freedom" and "Madeline & Suzy". |
| May 11th 2006 | The Valley Rock
festival due to be held in
Nantymoel in Wales has been cancelled. The decision was taken by the
organisers as a result of the license restrictions required by the
local council. Read
the
details at www.valleyrock.co.uk. |
| May 9th 2006 | Just a quick
update on the gig situation.
There is currently nothng listed on the LIVE page beyond June. We are
working on a few things for July and August but our focus
is putting together a tour for September and October to tie in
with the CD release. As soon as dates are confirmed the LIVE page will
be updated. Don't worry, Juicy Lucy are not going away any time soon! |
| April 11th 2006 | Sorry to tell
you
that the gig on Saturday 10th June at The 12 Bar in Preston has been
cancelled by the venue. Apparently they are moving
the activities of their other Preston venue, The Mill,
to The 12 Bar in the near future and as a result have got a
lot of double bookings to resolve! Rest assured that we are working
with them to confirm another date. |
| April 4th 2006 | Latest advance
in the
Juicy Lucy plan for World Domination is playing in Wales. Specifically
at the Nantymoel Valley Rock Festival on the first weekend in June.
Check out the LIVE page for details and a link to the Valley Rock web
site. |
| February 12th 2006 | We're Sorry,
We're
Really Very Sorry! Who are we sorry to? Well, anyone who headed down to
the Queens Hall in Nuneaton this evening, looking forward to seeing JL
supporting Nazareth. Due to misunderstandings between parties outside
of JL it turned out that a local band had been booked to
provide support this evening. So, apologies to anyone that missed us,
I'm sure you enjoyed Nazareth lots, and we will be in your neck of the
woods soon enough. You might want to catch JL at The Roadhouse in
Birmingham on 11th March? |
| January 31st 2006 | There's bad
news,
good news and very good news today. First the bad news. We have had to
cancel the gig at the Horse & Groom on February 10th. An
explanation follows. The good news is; the band will be playing a 30 minute set at the famous Borderline in London on Monday 6th February. This is a showcase gig for three bands, with JL going on stage around 8.30pm. The door charge for this is £7, but you can download this flyer to get in for £5. The flyer is in Adobe Acrobat format. Now the VERY good news. We have secured four more gigs on the Nazareth tour! The Diamond Dogs have had to cancel their gigs in the UK for personal reasons, so JL have been asked to step into the breach. This is the reason for cancelling the Plumstead gig. Apologies to those who were planning on coming to see the guys at Plumstead, but remember that you can catch them on 30th March down the road in Woolwich. |
| January 11th 2006 | A change on the
DOWNLOAD page. There is now a link to allofmp3.com which enables you to
listen to 30 second clips of the tracks from any of the JL
albums. You can also purchase tracks for download should you so wish,
but we are not convinced that there is much chance of any
money making it back to the songwriters or performers (or the record
company). |
| January 6th 2006 | "Pretty Women"
from
the "raiding the fruit bowl" CD will be one of three tracks reviewed by
the Demo Panel during the South:Live programme on BBC Southern Counties
radio this Sunday, 8th January at around 8pm. Tracks from two other
bands will also be reviewed and the band with the favorite track gets
to do an interview at the BBC, plus their music makes it on to the
show's playlist. Follow this link to vote for your favorite
track! |
| January 3rd 2006 | Some news on
upcoming
live dates. First, the band are looking forward to performing some
dates with Nazareth on their upcoming spring
tour in the UK. First confirmed appearance is at the Beachcomber in
Cleethorpes on 11th February. Also on the bill are Swedish rockers Diamond
Dogs with whom JL will be appearing at two other gigs in
February. Two important dates in April as well. On Friday 28th JL will be at the famous Halfmoon in Putney for the first time. Sunday 30th will see the guys headlining at the 2nd Paignton Bike Festival. For those of you who might be underwhelmed by the thought of Paignton, apparently last year saw over 10,000 (yes, ten thousand) people gathered on the prom there to enjoy the bikes and the bands. Not a bad gig! As usual, check out the LIVE page for phone numbers and links to relevant web sites. |
| December 1st 2005 | Juicy Lucy will be
lending their support to the 'Kash for Kashmir' fund raiser at the
Apple Tree pub in Crawley on Sunday December 18th. The event is planned
to run from mid-day with various bands, DJs and dancers lending their
efforts for this worthwhile cause. JL will be playing a one hour set to
round off the activities late on the Sunday evening. We know it's close
to Christmas and everyone will be thinking of spending their money on
the festivities, but please come along even if it is only for a couple
of hours and hand over some cash for those who will not be decking the
halls with boughs of holly because their halls are lying in ruins
around them! |
| November 21st 2005 | Some good news for
those of you who dread the "festive" season. JL will be playing at The
Prince Regent on December 31st so remember to drag yourselves away from
the TV and down to Sutton that night to see the New Year in with the
best rock band in the country! |
| November 1st 2005 | NEWS FLASH! - The gig
this coming Saturday, 5th November at the Rockin' Bay Horse in
Chelmsford has been cancelled by the venue. Apparently the RBH has
changed ownership and the music policy is being reviewed, with all gigs
cancelled for the time being. I have been assured that JL will be
rebooked at some point in the future, so keep an eye on the LIVE page! |
| October 21st 2005 | Check out the latest
on-line review of the band's live activities, this time from the Running Horse in Nottingham |
| October 12th 2005 | Just confirmed, a gig
at The Cartoon in Croydon in November. See the LIVE page for details. |
| September 13th 2005 | We're still here!
Yes, we've been quiet for the last month but a lot has been going on.
The band have been busy writing, rehearsing and recording material for
the new album (I've heard the rough mixes of what they have
done so far and it sounds great!). The guys are off up to Scotland next
week which sees the start of five weeks of hard gigging all over the
country. Before that the band are taking their life in their hands on Sunday 18th September by sitting in on Tim Shaw's Asylum show on Kerrang 105.2. So scary!!!! |
| August 11th 2005 | The studio time is
booked, so next week the band start recording the
first new Juicy Lucy album for ten years. As this will be
released through the band's own record label there is no pressure to
deliver on anything except quality. I know we have talked about having
the CD out by the end of October and we WILL try, but please don't give
us too much of a hard time if the release date slips. On the gigging front; JL will be supporting Budgie when they play in Southsea in October. Should be a top night! The first of the additional dates for Scotland in September has been agreed; Aberdeen's Cafe Drummond on the 26th. If anyone can suggest (or offer) a gig in Glasgow over that weekend, please email us. |
| August 5th 2005 | Well, there's good news and bad news. The bad
news is that the gig on the 19th at The Junction in Burgess Hill has
been cancelled by the venue. Apparently we were double booked against a
multi-band punk event, so we lost. We should be booking another date at
this venue next week. News when we have it. The good news is that we are going back to Scotland again in September. Currently confirmed to play at Bannermans on Thursday 22nd with Atomic Dog and Blank Generation (hello guys) as support. We will be booking other dates in Scotland for that weekend so keep checking the LIVE page. |
| July 19th 2005 | Those awfully nice
people at The Hairless Heart Herald have
posted a review of the gig at the Robin 2,
with pictures! (If this keeps up we will have to create a reviews page) |
| July 7th 2005 | As a result of the bombings in London earlier today, the gig at the 100 Club scheduled for tomorrow (8th July) has been canceled. For those who bought advanced tickets, please contact the point of sale for a refund. There's nothing more to say. |
| June 27th 2005 | At last, we've got a new
CD available!!! "raiding the fruit bowl" features four tracks recorded
live on the first part of the tour. Samples will be on the
download page in a couple of days and we are sorting out on-line
purchasing for those of you who can't wait until we play in your area
again.![]() ALSO - more gigs arranged in various parts of the country. See the LIVE page for details |
| June 17th 2005 | Updates on the LIVE
page. We are heading back up to Scotland for two dates over the July
Bank Holiday weekend, in Dundee and Edinburgh. |
| June 14th 2005 | We are sorry to announce
that the gig at The Brook in Southampton has been cancelled. Ray has
been ill for a few days and his doctor has advised him against singing
for a week. For those of you who bought tickets, refunds are available
from The Brook. We hope to schedule an alternative date in Southampton
in the near future. |
| May 17th 2005 | The band finally makes
it on to the BBC!!! Well, the Beeb's on-line presence anyway. A very
complimentary review of last nights gig at The Archer in Newcastle can
be found here. |
| May 12th 2005 | We are sorry to say that
the gigs in Glasgow and Perth on the 12th and 13th May respectively
have been cancelled. Both the band and the venues are sorry for any
inconvenience this might have caused. The Dundee gig on the 14th May
WILL be going ahead as planned. |
| May 2nd 2005 | Two days to go before the tour starts!!!!! |
| April 20th 2005 | The band will be
interviewed on Paul Chamberlain's Classic Rock show on ARfm this
Saturday, 23rd April. Listen online at ARfm.co.uk or Sky Digital 913. |
| April 7th 2005 | Just confirmed (and
added to the LIVE page) a date at the Robin 2 in Wolverhampton. The BIO page now includes a history of the band (at last!). |
| April 3rd 2005 | Some updates to the LIVE
listings. The entry for every venue now links to their own website (if
one exists) or to StreetMap so you can find out where they are. Also,
have added a date in Maidstone in July. Have also added a new track to the DOWNLOAD page. It's a real treat, so go and have a look! |
| March 24th 2005 | Three more dates added
to the LIVE page. The Twelve Bar in Preston is the latest stop on the
tour and we are very pleased to announce dates in July at the famous
100 Club in London and the Riga Music Bar in Southend. Busy, busy,
busy!!! |
| March 22nd 2005 | And another date for the
tour is confirmed. The Moses Hotel in Bolton is the latest stop on our
trip round the UK. Check the LIVE page for details. |
| March 21st 2005 | Right, time to let you
all know what is going on in "Lucy-land". As you can see from the LIVE
page, we are putting together a jaunt round the UK in May and June.
This little expedition has been named the "Walking Down the Highway"
tour after the b-side of the original Who Do You Love single. As well
as getting to see all you lovely people, we will also be promoting "Who
Do You Love - the anthology" a best-of compilation which those awfully
nice people at Sanctuary Records have put out. Before that we have a couple more warm-up gigs, in Hove (actually) and Hastings, before our appearance at the 12th Celtic Warriors Birthday Bash. We are sharing the Saturday night bill with (Oliver/Dawson) Saxon, Bernie Torme (who is rumoured to be bringing a very special guest as bass player) and Wishbone Ash. We intend to have a fine old time! |
| March 21st 2005 | More dates added in
Scotland as part of the Walking Down the Highway tour. See the LIVE
page for details. |
| March 18th 2005 | Another crowd favorite
is available from the DOWNLOAD page, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give
you....Madeline & Suzy |
| March 15th 2005 | At last, the website is up!!! |
